What is a Power of Attorney (POA)?

A Power of Attorney (POA) is a legal document in which one person transfers his/her right to perform to another person when being out of the country, or not able to travel due to age or health reasons, or is unable to be present due to preoccupation.

Power of Attorney (POA) is generally issued in matters related to property, banking, legal and judicial proceedings. A power of attorney is a legal document in which the person receiving the powers, also referred to as an attorney can represent the POA giver on his behalf.

It is often issued to a lawyer or attorney in case of legal matters especially when cases are in a different country or in property matters when the owner is unable to travel due to pre-occupancy or health reasons or now quite common due to flight and travel restrictions under covid-19 situations.

If the owner of the property is outside UAE and wishes to sell his property but is unable to travel to UAE, the government has made it easy by allowing the owner to have an online POA issued by which he can legally allow any resident in UAE to act as his attorney (POA) to represent him in selling the property.

The payment of the said property will be issued in form of a manager cheque in name of the owner, by which the owner is guaranteed the money coming to him and this leaves him at zero risk.

What documents are required to have an Online POA (Power of Attorney) and Online Vacating notice issued?

The following documents to proceed for online POA
Owner passport copy/Emirates ID (if UAE resident)
Title deed (if POA is needed to sell a property)
Mobile and email of Owner
Attorney passport or emirates ID copy (POA receiver, the person who will be having the power of POA assigned by Owner)
The duration to get a POA ready is 1 to 2 working days
