Indian ex-pat in Dubai saves three lives by donating his organs, now his widow seeks help

Indian ex-pat, Nileshkumar Chitaniya always wanted to donate his organs so when this 55-year-old ex-pat had a stroke while returning home one evening from his walk, he collapsed in his building parking, a passerby informed watchman who in turn informed his wife, Khushbuben.

He was taken to a private hospital where he was found to be brain dead.

Mr. Nileshkumar was an ac technician, running his small ac repair shop in bur Dubai.

He was admitted to the hospital on July 11 and due to high blood pressure had a stroke and was kept on a ventilator, he died on July 17. 

His wife knew he always wanted to donate organs so fulfilling her husband's wishes, she donated his vital organs which were in perfect condition, and saved 3 lives.

referring as a "hero of the community", the letter appreciated Nileshkumar's contribution to the society, it went on saying...

“We would like to highly appreciate Nileshkumar’s family for their humanitarian support to save other organ failure patients. There are no words that can express the immense gratitude for the gift their loved ones gave and the decision that they all made as a family to save other lives. Organ donation saves and transforms the lives of those lucky enough to receive a transplant. Thank you once again, rest assured that Nileshkumar’s gift is invaluable,” the letter added.

The widowed Khushbuben is still struggling to cope with the sudden change and loss life has given with her husband dead.

To make things worse, the unpaid rents piling up for shop and house rent are adding unimaginable pressure on her, the unpaid dues have now accumulated up to the tune of AED 200,000. She cannot leave the country without legally having settled these dues as both leases for her shop and home were in her name.

With no savings she is not sure how she will be able to clear these dues, her 20-year-old daughter also has to quit her studies back home in Gujarat, India.

Bindu Chettur of the Pravasi Bharatiya Sahaya Kendra (PBSK) said Khushbuben had approached the PBSK for support. “She was referred to us by the Indian People’s Forum. I see this as a special case given the noble outcome of the last wish of her husband whose organ donations gave a new lease of life to others.”

Pravasi Bharatiya Sahaya Kendra (PBSK) is a helpline for Indian ex-pats extended by the Indian consulate in Dubai, anyone who would like to assist Khushbuben through the PBSK can call them on 800 46342, this is a 24-hour helpline for assistance.
